Hyaluronic acid (HA) is found naturally in our skin, joints and eyes. Its main function is to retain water to keep everything well lubricated and hydrated. HA levels deplete with age and damage from UV rays from the sun. HA is an important component of the skin, as it maintains the skin’s hydration and, together with collagen and elastin, it helps form the supporting structure of the skin. With low levels, the skin looks dull, dehydrated and wrinkled.
